MeshCore radio setup
Flash MeshCore onto your radio, then give it the settings Liberty Hill Mesh runs on. Every file, hash and setting is shown before anything is written.
This browser can't reach a radio. Writing to a radio needs Web Serial or Web Bluetooth, and this browser does not appear to offer either.
Chrome, Edge or Opera on a desktop or laptop can do it. On an iPhone or iPad no browser can, because they all use Safari's engine underneath.
Everything before connecting still works here: pick a board, see exactly which file would be written, and verify its hash.
Needs Chrome, Edge, or Opera on a desktop. Firefox and Safari cannot talk to the radio.

Choose your radio
Pick the board and the job it will do. Already running MeshCore? .
The list is the one flasher.meshcore.io uses, loading….
nRF52 boards are updated through their bootloader, which rewrites only the app. Identity and contacts are kept either way.
Review before flashing
What will be flashed
Nothing has been downloaded yet. This fetches the file and compares its SHA-256 with the hash GitHub published for it, so you know the bytes are unchanged before any of them reach the radio.

Flash
This browser can't write to a radio.
The file you picked is downloaded and verified, so nothing is lost by finishing this part somewhere else.
- Plug the radio in over USB. Nothing else should have its port open.
- Press Flash and pick the radio's port. The tool resets the board into its bootloader by itself.
- If it says it could not reach the bootloader, unplug the radio, hold its BOOT button while plugging it back in, and press Flash again.
- Plug the radio in over USB.
- Put it in DFU mode: press its reset button twice, quickly. A USB drive appears and the LED pulses. If the board has no reachable reset button, press Enter DFU mode below, pick the radio's port, and it will reboot into DFU by itself.
- Press Flash and pick the port again. In DFU mode the port usually has a different name.
Flashed. The radio is restarting into MeshCore.
Give it a few seconds, then continue and connect over USB to apply the settings.
Bluetooth companion firmware does not talk over USB. Continue, then use Connect over Bluetooth and pair with the radio.
Connect your radio
Not flashed yet? , or use flasher.meshcore.io and come back.
- No DFU or bootloader mode. That is only for flashing. The radio should be running MeshCore normally: plugged in, booted, screen showing its name if it has one. If you put it in DFU mode for the flasher, unplug it and plug it back in first.
- Companion radios: match the button to the firmware. Companion BLE firmware only talks over Bluetooth, Companion USB only over USB. Repeaters and room servers are always USB.
- Close anything else using the radio, such as the MeshCore app, the flasher tab, or a serial monitor.

Configure your radio
Two questions. Everything else is fixed by the settings Liberty Hill Mesh runs, listed below.
Everyone on the mesh sees this. Up to 31 characters; no [ ] \ : , ? *.
Give your node a name first.
Turns on the GPS receiver and tells the radio to include its live position each time it announces itself, so it shows up on the mesh map. Leave it off for anything you carry around, or if you'd rather not publish where the node lives: the receiver stays off and adverts carry no position. Radios without GPS hardware just skip this.

Other regions, for comparison
Liberty Hill Mesh runs one set of radio settings so every node can hear every other node. These are listed only to show what you're not getting:
is ready
Running with 2-byte path hashes.
Worth knowing
Your repeater is restarting to pick up the new radio settings. It announces itself to its neighbors about 16 seconds after boot and to the whole mesh on the flood interval, so it should appear as a contact on your companion within a minute. If not, log in to it from the app and send a flood advert.
Contacts can take 24–48 hours to fill in. Say hello on the Public channel. If it comes back with “Heard x repeat(s)”, you're on the mesh.
